OUR MISSION: Safely rescuing quality food to feed Spokane’s hungry by nurturing sustainable community networks and charitable partnerships while eliminating food waste.
WHAT WE DO
Safely rescuing quality food to feed Spokane’s hungry…
Feed Spokane collects food that would otherwise be thrown away from 165 local restaurants, caterers, hotels, grocers, wholesalers, and farmers. In 2022, we collected 778,000 pounds of food.
… by nurturing sustainable community networks…
Once our team of volunteers sorts and stores the collected food, we distribute it to 40 (and counting!) charitable meal sites.
…while eliminating food waste.
In America, 40% of all food prepared for human consumption is thrown away. By rerouting food to people who need it, we accomplish the dual mission of helping fight the climate crisis.
Join our team of volunteers! We need help every day of the week – sorting food, distributing meals – and driving vans – and have flexible opportunities so you can fit us into your busy schedule.
Since 2005, Feed Spokane has been fighting hunger by rescuing thousands of pounds of leftover food each week that would otherwise be discarded and quickly organize and redistribute it to food banks and community partners that get it to our food-insecure neighbors. Join us.
